Newborn Home Visit

A Public Health Nurse with newborn and breastfeeding expertise will make a home visit within one week of the birth of the infant –the visit is voluntary. At the visit, the mother and infant are assessed and provided with newborn and breastfeeding education. Questions the mother may have are answered, referral to other recommended programs or agencies are made.

This program is designed to provide assessment, support and education to the parents of the newborn. The visit is made by the Public Health Nurse trained in newborn issues and topics (SIDS, growth & development, breastfeeding, etc.). The visit is free and voluntary.
